Ultra Analog is the popular and highly acclaimed virtual analog synth by Applied Acoustics. Boasting fat, alias-free oscillators with hard sync, sub oscillators and integrated pitch envelopes, its unique character comes courtesy of two ballsy multimode filters with multiple drive and distortion options. Now AAS has reinvented Ultra Analog with version VA-2, featuring all of the same features and character of the original, but with scores of enhancements.
NEW Factory Library
The completely overhauled factory preset library has well over 600 production-ready sounds categorized for fast and intuitive exploration.
NEW Compressor and Equalizer
These new additions are perfect to add punch and definition to your sound, letting you cut through any dense mix or performance.
The new output limiter protects your ears and monitors during experimentation with the synth’s parameters while providing ample distortion-free dynamics.
NEW Streamlined Interface
Redesigned from the ground up, the new interface now divides Ultra Analog VA-2 into three panels: "Play" presents shortcuts to the performance and effect parameters, including bypass switches for quick edits. "Edit" lets you create and tweak your sounds, and "FX" supplies equalization, compression, multi-effects, and reverb processing.
NEW Bank and Program Manager
Ultra Analog VA-2’s new program manager allows simple and efficient organization, backup, and sharing of your sounds.
UPDATED Overhauled Effects
Reworked and polished, Ultra Analog VA-2’s multi-effect processor features our best sounding chorus, delay, phaser, flanger, distortion, notch filter, wah-wah, auto-wah, and reverb to date!
NEW Native 64-bit AU, VST, and AAX Plug-ins
Ultra Analog VA-2 now runs in native 64-bit on Mac OS X and Windows making it compatible with the latest sequencers.
NEW Richard Devine Signature Sounds
Renowned sound designer Richard Devine dug deep into the new Ultra Analog VA-2 to forge a state-of-the-art collection of 110 presets that are simply essential.
The superb preset library created by the world's best professional sound designers represents a sensational journey through all the colors of the analog spectrum—from vintage synthesizers to modern VAs.
Ultra Analog is packed with premium performance features: keyboard modes, unison, portamento and glide functions, and a complete set of MIDI features. And for even more action, Ultra Analog provides a user programmable pattern arpeggiator and shortcuts to high-quality effects. Ultra Analog VA-2 will match your playing style or musical context with ease thanks to the tap tempo and sync to host clock options; poly- or monophonic with note priority keyboard modes; up-to-4-voice unison; glide and legato functions; and the flexible vibrato.
Ready, willing, and able, Ultra Analog VA-2’s arpeggiator offers various syncing resolutions, playing algorithms, and rhythmic patterns that will explode your chord progressions into percolating melodies or pulsing sequences.
Ultra Analog VA-2’s voice comes from two alias-free, wide-range oscillators with sub and hard sync capabilities in sine, saw, and square/pulse wave shapes.
Sweet Sweep Filters
Ultra Analog VA-2’s filters can enchant or enrage, but modulation, automation, and MIDI control (MIDI Control Change assignments) operations are always smooth and effortless.
Ultra Analog VA-2’s envelopes present themselves as familiar ADSRs, but included are the organically decaying time parameter as well as loop and re-trigger options—all for a strikingly snappy package.
Whether you’re looking for highly focused, super-steep-slope, or layered sounds, Ultra Analog’s two filter stages allow any combination of low-pass, high-pass, band-pass, notch, and formant types in both series and parallel routing for an exceptional amount of flexibility.
Ultra Analog is highly efficient. Find the sound you want fast and tweak it to perfection thanks to the categorized browser and ergonomic interface. Whether it’s for day-to-day synth work or particular sound design tasks, Ultra Analog will deliver the entire analog sonic range with every control at your fingertips whenever your creative outbursts demand it.

Reverence is a a new Sound Bank for Ultra Analog from artist Sean Divine. An ode to modern and vintage analog synths, Sean's goal was to create sounds with the warmth, imperfections, and character associated with these instruments. His combined background and expertise as a composer, producer, and mix engineer results in a preset collection that is both truly inspired and tailored for production. The 115 sounds are divided into seven categories: Arpeggiator, Bass, Keys, Leads, Pads, Plucked and Effects.

Derek Johnson, Sound On Sound
“I heartily recommend AAS's Ultra Analog to anyone who likes working with computer-based synths. The simple interface hides the heart of an analogue beast—from throbbing bass to supersonic leads, it's all here. If you only have money for one serious commercial synth plug-in, make it this one.”
Jim Aikin, Electronic Musician
“Fat, versatile, and easy to use, this soft synth brings classic sounds to the desktop.”
“If you use a computer to make music but you crave an analog experience, Ultra Analog won't disappoint. It sounds very analog and has a wide range of voicing options, as shown by the hundreds of cool factory presets.”
Jason Scott Alexander, Remix
“The basses are absolutely fantastic, covering just about all of the hot destinations, and there are some real gems in the poly, leads and arpgeggiator categories, too.”
“Is it what I'd call ultra-analog-sounding? Unequivocally, you betcha!”
“Every synth has a character of its own and the Ultra Analog is definitely worth having a listen to. It has a fat sound with filters that have a very pleasant character. In short: a very good machine that definitely fits the bill if you're on the look-out for analogue subtractive sounds.”
TJ Glover, Future Music
“Sonically, it truly befits its name, sitting right up there with the best in terms of analog emulation; and even its most advanced features are easy to negotiate thanks to the exemplary clarity of the interface.”
Craig Anderton, Keyboard
“That got my attention—and it should get yours too, if you're a fan of Stuff That Sounds Really Good.”
“But bell and whistles are not what UA is all about, because the big factor here is sound quality.”
“UA's factory presets deserve special recognition—they're superb.”
“Ultra Analog joins the short list of analog emulators that live up to their marketing claims.”
Hollin Jones, Music Tech
“Analogue heaven—Ultra Analog is a joy to use. As an instrument, the patches are richer then some other re-creations... Simple yet powerful—an excellent way to create both classic and unique sounds.”
Jesse Terry, XLR8R
“If you don't have the cash to pony up for a used Juno, Moog, Rhodes, Arp or Sequential Circuits, the Ultra Analog is the perfect virtual synthesizer solution. Looks Like the digital age has caught up with the past.”
Devon Brent, Grooves
“(Ultra Analog) sounds liquid and alive, more so than most virtual analog synths I've played with. The bass end of UA was fantastic, and quite possibly one of the best I've heard from a plug-in... Those of you craving that ultimate analog sound in digital format should certainly take a look at Ultra Analog.”
