Two Limited Time July Offers from Vienna!
Harp 1
Harp 1

The harp is one of the oldest and most widespread musical instruments known to man, and its typical playing technique, the broken playing of chords, was derived from the name of the instrument itself – arpeggio. The modern, double-action pedal instrument Harp 1 was played by Ruth Rojahn, an internationally successful harp soloist. Apart from single notes in various playing styles it offers a wide range of arpeggios and an enormous wealth of glissandos, which are particularly brilliant and easy to use. The controller structure of the Vienna Instruments player allows for extremely flexible and quick access when switching between ranges, different tempos, up and down movements, and different scales in real-time. Playing the harp in real-time on the keyboard has never been easier!

Harp 2
Harp 2

Unlike Harp 1, Harp 2 is played by Julia Reth and features an even larger number of single notes in various playing styles, such as damped, fingernail playing, “Près-de-la-table”, pedal glissandos and bisbigliandos – those whispering tender tremolos played on two strings of the same pitch that create a lovely ethereal effect. Harp 2 is the ideal complement to Harp 1, reflecting the use of two harps in orchestral music since the mid 19th century.

Upright Bass
Upright Bass

With the addition of the Upright Bass, the Vienna Symphonic Library now offers yet another instrument frequently used in jazz compositions. The recordings were done with Bernd Konzett, a well-known jazz bassist from the Austrian state Vorarlberg. Following a number of test recordings, he equipped his 4-string, three-quarter bass (113 cm scale) with thinner E and A strings, and thicker D and G strings. A short while later, Bernd realized just how painful it can be to record for the Vienna Symphonic Library. Compared with a several-hour-long gig at a jazz club, a glissandi recording session can be torturous, leaving the musician with veritable burns on the fingertips. The results speak for themselves in this first-class collection.

Concert Guitar
Concert Guitar

The Vienna Concert Guitar is the only one of its kind. This hand-made instrument was specially constructed with an arched back put together from several pieces of wood. Its balanced, homogeneous sound allows it to stand out as a solo instrument as well as in accompaniment. Due to its polyphonic nature, the concert guitar presented a special challenge. Specifically, chords only sounded authentic when the chords themselves were sampled! After three years producing the orchestral sample libraries, the Vienna Symphonic Library team felt ready to take up this challenge, capturing all of the concert guitar's versatility and its many playing techniques. The samples were “tamed” and made playable with the help of Vienna Symphonic Library's unique Vienna Instruments algorithms.
