It makes me very happy to bring this special project to the sampling world. I've been a big fan of Peter Maunu's for many years, ever since I heard the first Group 87 album in the early eighties. He has been a true "Ambient" artist since before the word became en vogue. During the creation of DR2, I was thinking that it would be fun to do another "Distorted Reality" type collection, but this time with all the sounds originating from the guitar. Peter was the perfect artist to collaborate with to create these samples. Our creative process started with Peter sculpting densely layered multitrack guitar experiments, from which I would extract useful elements and then further mangle them into interesting samples. It was a two year process, which allowed both of us enough time to explore many different moods and techniques.
 
As a keyboard player, it used to always infuriate me when I would read "No Synthesizers Used" on the old Queen records...maybe because I couldn't figure out how they made all those amazing sounds! Well, here we are decades later making the same proclamation that, believe it or not -with the exception of one sine wave- all the sounds on this library were created without the use of any synthesizers. A true testament to the infinite versatility of Les Paul's invention.
