Working with Viennese musicians, the Vienna Horn would be the natural choice, but the double French horn is the gold standard in film scoring, so that's what they've recorded for this installment of the Big Bang Orchestra. Its compelling sound is well rounded from pianissimo to fortissimo, and it's extremely powerful in the louder ranges.
Pulsating textures, suspense-packed tensions, risers, hits, clusters, and much more — Big Bang Orchestra: Regulus reveals an abundance of effects and unusual playing techniques, originally recorded for the Synchron FX Strings I Collection.

BBO: Musca features low strings, the perfect complement to BBO:Lyra. Recording six cellos and four basses playing together in octaves creates a homogenous, well-balanced sound, as the musicians adjust their intonation, tone color, phrasing and vibrato instantly and instinctively with each other. It's this exceptional coherency that makes these string performances so special and guarantees a beautiful, balanced timbre.
Lyra, the first Big Bang Orchestra module dedicated entirely to string ensembles, offers beautiful performances of three string sections. With 14 first violins and 12 second violins playing in unison, and 8 violas playing an octave below, these captivating performances are perfect for those soaring melodies and prominent themes.
As with all the brass libraries of the Big Bang Orchestra, the sound of this trumpet ensemble delivers the intimate, thrilling timbre associated with countless contemporary film scores. To that end the Vienna team recorded Bb trumpets with piston valves rather than the rotary valves more commonly found in Austrian orchestras.
BBO: Izar includes all of the articulations of the Low Brass prequel Hercules, sans legatos, played as clusters. You get short notes, marcatos, several dynamic articulations (sfz, sffz, various crescendos and decrescendos), flutter tonguing, trills, glissandos and fast repetitions, all played as half-tone clusters consisting of three adjacent semitones.
Choirs for the Big Bang Orchestra! Drawing from their manifold experiences of singing for major movie and game productions, the Synchron Stage Choir delivers emotional performances and a clear style with reduced vibrato that is widely used in modern scores.
The second drums and percussion installment of the Big Bang Orchestra adds powerful, driving rhythmic patterns to Vienna's series of tutti recordings. Johannes Vogel, composer and principal conductor at Synchron Stage Vienna, who is also an accomplished percussionist in his own right, orchestrated a variety of patterns that not only complement the symphonic riffs included in BBO: Capricorn, but lend energy and drive to any track.
Big, fat percussion sounds are an essential part of a large sounding orchestra, lending epic size, power and drive to any track. For BBO: Dorado, the Vienna team sampled up to six percussionists playing together in the large hall of Synchron Stage Vienna, capturing the human liveliness and musicality that's one of the cornerstones of the entire series.
