GeoFlugelhorn
GeoFlugelhorn is the flugelhorn for GeoShred Studio: a physically modeled conical-bore brass voice, darker and rounder than a trumpet and made to blend rather than cut. Breath shapes the tone the whole time a note sounds, so ballads and long lines sing, and pressure and gesture on the continuous pitch surface carry the swell, the fall, and the slow vibrato that define the instrument.
Its 20 factory presets run from Dry and Swell to Resonator and Looper. Works with MPE controllers, wind and breath controllers, and GeoShred Control, a free iPhone and iPad companion app that delivers a multi-touch expressive surface for live performance.
GeoFlugelhorn runs inside GeoShred Studio, with a license included for customers who do not already own one.
GeoFlugelhorn – Physically Modeled Flugelhorn for GeoShred Studio
BUILT TO BLEND: A ROUNDED BRASS VOICE THAT SINGS THROUGH LONG LINES
GeoShred Studio gives the flugelhorn's dark, velvety tone a home on its multi-row continuous pitch surface, and GeoFlugelhorn makes the most of it. Breath, carried by pressure on the grid, shapes the tone for as long as the note sounds: a phrase can open from a whisper, warm through its middle, and taper to nothing in one unbroken line. Dynamics move the color from velvet at a murmur to a gentle brassy edge at full volume, and a finger drawn along a row produces the scoops and falls of a ballad chorus. A Reverb tail from the integrated FX rack lengthens with a swell, and Audio Modeling's SWAM engine models the wide conical bore and deep mouthpiece beneath it all.

What's Inside GeoFlugelhorn:
- Continuous pitch surface across the flugelhorn's range, with scoops, falls, and portamento on every note of the isomorphic grid
- Breath-driven dynamics, tone color from velvet to brassy, and vibrato that follow pressure and gesture through the whole length of a line
- 20 factory presets, from Dry and Swell to Resonator and Looper
- Integrated GeoShred FX rack including EchoMT, Reverb, and AmpCab, with reverb tails that lengthen as a phrase swells
- MPE controller, wind and breath controller, and GeoShred Control companion app support
- SWAM physical modeling by Audio Modeling: lip-driven air column, wide conical bore, and deep funnel mouthpiece simulated together
The Trumpet's Conical Cousin
Dark, mellow, and round, with less projection than a trumpet and far more blend: the flugelhorn is pitched in Bb with the trumpet's three valves and fingering, but its bore widens steadily from mouthpiece to bell and its mouthpiece is a deep funnel. The result is a tone rich in fundamental and sparing with upper harmonics. It is the brass band's lyrical solo voice, seated beside the horns, and the sound of jazz ballads from Clark Terry and Art Farmer to Chuck Mangione and Freddie Hubbard. GeoFlugelhorn is built on that geometry and the breath that drives it.
Ballads, Pads, and Section Blend
The flugelhorn earns its place in a score through restraint. A melody played on it sits inside a string pad; a countermelody under a vocal supports the singer. In GeoShred Studio that restraint is a playing decision: keep pressure light and the horn stays soft and dark, add pressure through the phrase and it warms without hardening, and only at the top of the dynamic range does the brass edge appear. The slow, wide vibrato that closes a ballad phrase follows the rocking of a fingertip, and a fall from the last note is a finger sliding down the row.
For section writing, GeoFlugelhorn layers naturally with GeoTrumpet above it and GeoBassTrombone below, each voice played by hand, so the blend breathes the way a live section does.
GeoShred Studio and GeoShred Control
GeoShred Studio is moForte's professional desktop instrument platform, running as a VST3, AU, or AUv3 plugin inside your DAW or as a standalone application. Its multi-row continuous pitch surface and native pressure response give a breath-driven brass instrument the two things it needs most: dynamics performed in the take, and pitch that moves when the finger moves. Wind and breath controllers connect directly, and MPE hardware integrates natively.
GeoShred Control pairs with GeoShred Studio over USB or wireless MIDI, delivering a free multi-touch iOS surface for live performance alongside hardware controllers.

GeoSWAM vs. SWAM Flugelhorn
GeoSWAM instruments run inside GeoShred Studio and are built around GeoShred's expressive performance surface, including its multi-row grid, continuous pitch layout, pressure response, gesture control, and integrated FX rack. The instrument's core parameters are curated and mapped for immediate, real-time musical control within the GeoShred environment.
SWAM Flugelhorn is Audio Modeling's standalone instrument and plug-in, included in SWAM Trumpets, which can operate independently or inside a DAW. It provides deeper access to advanced model parameters and detailed customization within its own interface.
Both use the same underlying SWAM physical modeling technology and are capable of highly expressive performance. The difference lies in interface design, parameter depth, and workflow architecture.
They are separate products developed independently, and there are no upgrade or crossgrade paths between the two product lines.

FAQ
What is GeoFlugelhorn?
GeoFlugelhorn is a physically modeled flugelhorn powered by SWAM technology from Audio Modeling, running inside GeoShred Studio. It delivers the instrument's dark, rounded brass tone with breath-driven dynamics, continuous pitch control, vibrato, pressure-responsive expression, and 20 factory presets across GeoShred's performance surface.
Do I need GeoShred Studio to use GeoFlugelhorn?
Yes. GeoFlugelhorn runs inside GeoShred Studio, and a GeoShred Studio license is included with your purchase for customers who do not already own one. If you already own GeoShred Studio, you can use your existing license to run GeoFlugelhorn.
What's the difference between GeoSWAM and Naada instruments?
GeoShred offers two families of physically modeled instruments: GeoSWAM and Naada. While both deliver deeply expressive performance through GeoShred's touch surface and MPE support, they come from different modeling technologies and are designed with different musical goals in mind.
GeoSWAM instruments are developed in collaboration with Audio Modeling and are closely related to their acclaimed SWAM instruments. These models focus primarily on Western orchestral and acoustic instruments such as brass, woodwinds, and strings. GeoSWAM instruments are designed for highly detailed expressive solo performance and operate as monophonic instruments, just like their real-world counterparts.
Naada instruments are developed by AccelMatrix and emphasize a broader palette of global instruments, including instruments such as Bansuri, Sitar, Veena, and many others alongside selected Western instruments. In contrast to GeoSWAM, Naada instruments are polyphonic, making them ideal for chords, layered textures, and rich ensemble-style performance.
In short:
GeoSWAM: monophonic, orchestral focus, highly detailed solo performance
Naada: polyphonic, broader global instrument palette, ideal for chords and layered textures.
Both instrument families share the same expressive GeoShred performance environment, giving players an intuitive and powerful way to perform physically modeled instruments.
Do GeoSWAM and Naada instruments use the same parameters?
No. Because the two families use different modeling technologies, each instrument includes its own parameter set tailored to its physical model. These parameters control aspects of the instrument's behavior and performance response.
What controllers work with GeoFlugelhorn?
GeoFlugelhorn works with MPE controllers, wind and breath controllers, the free GeoShred Control iOS companion app, and standard MIDI keyboards when paired with a breath, expression, or foot controller.
Is GeoFlugelhorn monophonic?
Yes. Like all GeoSWAM instruments, GeoFlugelhorn is monophonic, mirroring the behavior of its acoustic counterpart. For polyphonic performance, GeoShred Studio offers the Naada instrument family, which supports chords, layered textures, and ensemble-style playing.
How does GeoFlugelhorn differ from GeoTrumpet?
Both are physically modeled Bb brass instruments for GeoShred Studio, but GeoFlugelhorn models the flugelhorn's wide conical bore and deep mouthpiece, producing a darker, rounder tone suited to ballads and blending, while GeoTrumpet models the trumpet's cylindrical bore and brighter, more projecting voice.
