Gem Tapedesk - Tape Simulator and Console Emulator
TAPEDESK faithfully recreates the complete analog recording and mixing signal path by modeling both a professional tape machine and a classic console bus, working together exactly as they do in the real world. Instead of chaining multiple plugins, TAPEDESK gives you the full analog workflow in a single insert: console input to tape machine to console mix bus. The result is an abundance of warm, lively character that engineers strive for.
Your purchase of any Overloud Gem includes a perpetual license, free lifetime updates, and authorization on three computers with no subscription required.
It’s often perfect for adding that midrange solidity and focus that helps to keep a vocal or guitar at the right subjective level in a mix.—Sam Inglis, Sound On Sound
Authentic Analog Signal Flow
In traditional analog recording, audio passes through a console preamp, onto tape, back through the console, and finally into the mix bus. TAPEDESK simulates this entire journey—capturing not just the individual components, but the subtle interactions between them that define true analog tone.

Each section can also be enabled independently, letting you use the console or tape stage on its own when needed.
Legendary Consoles & Tape Machine
Three classic console models:
- S4000 – Wide bandwidth, fast transient response, and a more aggressive tonal profile
- N80 – Enhanced harmonic richness and low-mid warmth typical of classic analog consoles
- T88 – Pronounced midrange character with increased density and weight
2-inch, 24-track tape machine emulation
- Modeled from a world-class tape machine from a renowned studio in the UK. TAPEDESK gives you full control over tape speed, bias, saturation, noise, wow & flutter—from subtle warmth to heavy analog coloration.
Tape saturation, harmonic distortion, phase shift, modulation noise, and non-linear frequency response all contribute to a sound that feels fuller, clearer, and more musical. TAPEDESK brings that character into your DAW, offering everything from gentle enhancement to bold, vintage saturation. Even the default settings deliver an accurate, detailed analog model right out of the box.
Designed for Everyday Mixing
TAPEDESK is practical to use across an entire session:
- Individual tracks
- Submix and group buses
- Full mixes and mastering chains
Use it anywhere you want added warmth, clarity, and depth—from single instruments to full-on arrangements.

Full Analog Signal-Flow Modeling
Real analog tone comes from the full signal chain, not a single processor. TAPEDESK recreates the classic console-to-tape-to-mix-bus workflow, delivering the harmonic depth, saturation, and summing character that will give your mixes an exciting new level of breadth and impact.
