The Special Edition Volume 1 features the most common orchestral instruments and articulations in a resource-saving, affordable Collection. It contains 28 instruments and ensembles: Solo strings and orchestral strings, solo instruments and ensembles of the brass section, woodwinds ranging from piccolo flute to contra bassoon, harp, drums and percussion as well as celesta and the Bösendorfer Imperial grand piano.
SYNCHRON-ized Special Edition Volume 1 ("Essential Orchestra") contains over 30 of the most common instruments and ensembles with basic articulations.* Included are two solo violins and two solo cellos, orchestral strings, solo instruments and ensembles of the brass section, woodwinds ranging from piccolo flute to contra bassoon, harp, timpani, drums and percussion as well as celesta and a Bösendorfer Imperial.
The Special Edition Volume 2 contains 35 additional instruments that enhance the symphonic variety of the Special Edition Volume 1. All string and wind instruments offer Vienna Symphonic Library’s famed Legato Performances – real note transitions, smoothly and authentically performed by the algorithms of the Vienna Instruments software player. Single note articulations include staccato, détaché, sustained, sforzato, tremolo, and pizzicato.
The SYNCHRON-ized Special Edition Volume 2 ("Extended Orchestra") contains more than 40 instruments and ensembles with basic articulations*: Chamber Strings, solo instruments and ensembles of woodwinds and brass, e.g., the famous Epic Horns (8 players), saxophones, alto flute, clarinet in Bb 2, oboe d'amore, keyboard instruments such as prepared piano, harpsichord, harmonium and the Vienna Konzerthaus Organ, upright bass, acoustic and electric guitars (Overdrive), as well as a new set of percussion instruments from Vienna's Synchron Percussion.
Apart from the lush and cinematic Appassionata Strings with a wide variety of playing techniques in normal and muted variations, the Special Edition Volume 3 focuses on “con sordino“ (muted) recordings of Vienna’s highly acclaimed Solo Strings and Chamber Strings. Additionally, you’ll find an alternative Harp to the one included in the Special Edition Volume 1. All instruments offer Vienna Symphonic Library’s famed Legato Performances – real note transitions, smoothly and authentically performed by the algorithms of the Vienna Instruments software player. The SYNCHRON-ized Special Edition Volume 3 includes “con sordino” (muted) articulations of Vienna’s Solo Strings and Chamber Strings, the lush and cinematic Appassionata Strings (56 players) with both normal and “con sordino” articulations as well as an alternative harp to the one included with Volume 1.
The Special Edition Volume 4 features 15 woodwind and brass instruments that are not included in the Special Edition Volumes 1–3, such as the “Fanfare Trumpets” (a powerful ensemble of 6 trumpets), bass flute and contrabass clarinet. The SYNCHRON-ized Special Edition Volume 5 features 5 String sections, taken from SYNCHRON-ized Dimension Strings: 8 First Violins • 8 Second Violins • 6 Violas • 6 Cellos • 4 Double Basses.
These fantastic string ensembles of eight violins, six violas, six cellos and four double basses feature the most important playing techniques from the popular Collections Vienna Dimension Strings I and II. They offer the articulations staccato, détaché, sustained, sforzato, legato, portamento, tremolo, pizzicato, all played without mute ("senza sordino") and with mute ("con sordino")
Volume 6 of the VI Special Edition Series features the most important playing techniques from Vienna Symphonic Library’s popular Collections Vienna Dimension Brass I and Vienna Dimension Brass II. They include five brass ensembles of four players each: 4 trumpets, 4 French horns, 4 trombones, 4 Wagner tubas and the “low brass ensemble” (1 tuba, 1 bass trombone and 2 tenor trombones).
