The History of a Legend

This AC30 reference amplifier delivers an unusually high gain even without the Top Boost circuit. The cabinet is equipped with two Vox* 12" Grey Bulldog Alnico* speakers. This amp was acquired from Peter Fielding, the guitarist of The Executives, and added to the Made In Rock collection.

From a Gig to a Riot

This is the amplifier used during the famous July 24, 1964, concert the night the Rolling Stones rocked Blackpool into chaos and got banned from the city for almost 50 years. During the ensuing riot, different pieces of gear were thrown off the stage, including the AC30 amplifier, which was ultimately recovered and repaired to its prior condition. Decades later Overloud were fortunate to be able to capture this historic amp in all of its original glory.

Every Tonal and Emotional Detail Captured

The THU KR30 head faithfully emulates all three channels of the original ‘64 AC30. The Normal channel features a classic voicing, offering a tight response that spans from sparkling clean tones to a smooth mid-gain crunch. The Brilliant channel gently rolls off low-end frequencies in a very musical way, adding presence and clarity—especially useful for shaping a focused crunch tone. While this isn’t a Top Boost amplifier, it responds beautifully to the included overdrive pedals for additional gain.

The Vibrato/Tremolo channel activates the amp’s built-in modulation circuit. A selector lets you choose between Vibrato—which subtly modulates pitch—and Tremolo, which recreates the iconic “pulsing” effect associated with classic Vox amps.

The included cabinet is modeled after Vox 12” Grey Bulldog Alnico speakers, known for their prominent midrange and lively, present tone that’s made for rock and roll. Captured using 18 microphones with high-resolution nonlinear impulse responses, Overloud’s Fluid Convolution technology lets you position up to four microphones in a 3D space around the cab and blend them with your own custom IRs. The ReSPiRe feature further enhances realism, adding the sensation of standing right next to the amp.

Overloud's New Fluid Capturing Technology

Also known as "schematic-assisted capturing," Overloud’s new Fluid Capturing is an innovative amp simulation process that combines the strengths of both modeling and capturing techniques. A sampled amp capture, which is a highly realistic yet fixed representation of the amp at a specific setting, falls short in replicating the amp tone across all knob settings. In contrast, a modeled amp reacts dynamically at all dynamic ranges and knob positions but may not precisely match the iconic color of a particular amp setting. Fluid Capturing takes a comprehensive approach by both modeling and sampling the amp with a variety of settings. This combined data builds a powerful digital model that is as flexible and fluid as a modeled amp and as realistic as a captured amp.

Made In Rock

The Made In Rock Series is a revolutionary virtual amp collection honoring rock history and fueled by Overloud's NEW cutting-edge Fluid Capturing technology. The Made In Rock series features meticulous models of the actual amps that made rock history. Seven products have now been released and are models of amps played by Keith Richards, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Noel Gallagher, Ian Hill, Jimmy Page, Tony Iommi and David Gilmour on classic recordings. They were created in part using an Overloud innovation called "schematic-assisted capturing,” which seamlessly merges modeling and capturing techniques, allowing users to experience the variable nuances of each knob and circuit on these iconic amps.

These products were made possible by the Made In Rock Cultural Association in Italy, which curates an extensive collection of musical instruments, amplifiers, effects, clothing, memorabilia, and stage items once owned and used by legendary rock artists. The association aims to preserve these historical artifacts and impart their knowledge to younger generations.

By leveraging Overloud's Fluid Capturing, recognized as the most advanced capturing technology, Made In Rock achieves precise sound preservation by capturing and replicating every tonal and emotional detail of the amplifiers in their collection.
