GeoSlide
GeoSlide turns GeoShred Studio's continuous pitch surface into a slide whistle: one pipe and a plunger, physically modeled, so every glide between notes is the instrument itself. Swoop, glide, and wobble across the grid while pressure and gesture govern breath intensity, vibrato, and the speed of the slide in real time, from a comic plunge to a slow, eerie rise.
Twenty factory presets range from Dry and Finger Vibrato to Looper and Low V Port. Works with MPE controllers, wind and breath controllers, and GeoShred Control, a free iPhone and iPad companion app that delivers a multi-touch expressive surface for live performance.
GeoSlide runs inside GeoShred Studio, with a license included for customers who do not already own one.
GeoSlide – Physically Modeled Slide Whistle for GeoShred Studio
A PITCH THAT MOVES AS FREELY AS THE HAND
GeoShred Studio's continuous pitch surface was built for an instrument like GeoSlide. On a real slide whistle the plunger sets the pitch and the breath sets the tone; here the finger is the plunger. Draw it along a row and the pitch follows at whatever speed the hand moves, so a swoop up to a note, a glide between two, and a trembling wobble on one are all the same gesture at different speeds. Pressure governs the breath, from a thin, airy whistle to a full, hollow tone. EchoMT in the integrated FX rack turns one swoop into a cascade and Reverb gives a fall somewhere to land, while Audio Modeling's SWAM engine models the whistle mouthpiece and the moving stopped pipe as it travels.

What's Inside GeoSlide:
- Fully continuous pitch across GeoShred's surface, with glide speed, swoop range, and wobble depth set by how the finger moves along a row
- Breath-driven dynamics and tone from airy to hollow, with vibrato and slide behavior responding to pressure and gesture
- 20 factory presets, from Dry and Finger Vibrato to Looper and Low V Port
- Integrated GeoShred FX rack including EchoMT, Reverb, and AmpCab, turning one swoop into a cascade or giving a fall a place to land
- MPE controller, wind and breath controller, and GeoShred Control companion app support
- SWAM physical modeling by Audio Modeling: whistle mouthpiece and variable-length stopped pipe modeled as the pipe moves
The Piston Flute's Gliding Voice
A swoop with a whistle's tone: the slide whistle is a fipple flute whose pitch is set by a piston that lengthens or shortens the stopped air column, so glissando is its native articulation. Also called the swanee whistle or piston flute, it appears in Ravel's opera L'enfant et les sortilèges, on jazz and novelty records of the 1920s, and as a universal cue in cartoon and comedy scoring, where its swoop still signals a fall or a double take. GeoSlide models the moving pipe so that every glide, fast or slow, is the instrument speaking.
Swoops, Glides, and Wobbles
The hard part of a slide whistle is landing: arriving on pitch at the end of a swoop, in time. GeoShred's surface solves that with its pitch rounding, which keeps the landing in tune while the slide itself stays continuous; the Slide and Guitar quantization modes set how the surface rounds, so a swoop can land cleanly on the beat and keep the glide that got it there. A wobble is a fingertip rocking on one spot; a siren is a slow sweep across the row and back; a sound-design rise is a very slow drift with the pressure increasing the whole way. The Looper and Low V Port presets offer further starting points.
Beyond comedy, the instrument has a serious range: theremin-like melodic lines, eerie rises and falls for horror and science fiction cues, and the kind of bent, vocal phrasing that sits naturally under a lo-fi or experimental track.
GeoShred Studio and GeoShred Control
GeoShred Studio is moForte's professional desktop instrument platform, running as a VST3, AU, or AUv3 plugin inside your DAW or as a standalone application. A slide whistle is the purest case for its continuous pitch surface: the instrument has only one dimension of pitch, and the surface gives it to the finger directly, with pitch rounding to catch the landings. Wind and breath controllers connect directly, and MPE hardware integrates natively.
GeoShred Control pairs with GeoShred Studio over USB or wireless MIDI, delivering a free multi-touch iOS surface for live performance alongside hardware controllers.

GeoSWAM vs. SWAM VariFlute
GeoSWAM instruments run inside GeoShred Studio and are built around GeoShred's expressive performance surface, including its multi-row grid, continuous pitch layout, pressure response, gesture control, and integrated FX rack. The instrument's core parameters are curated and mapped for immediate, real-time musical control within the GeoShred environment.
SWAM VariFlute is the Audio Modeling standalone instrument and plug-in from which GeoSlide is derived. It can operate independently or inside a DAW, and it is a configurable flute whose tube type, material, pipe length, diameter, aperture, and breath noise can be shaped toward slide-flute-style sounds and many others, with deeper access to advanced model parameters within its own interface. GeoSlide is a fixed, curated model of that flute for GeoShred Studio.
Both use the same underlying SWAM physical modeling technology and are capable of highly expressive performance. The difference lies in interface design, parameter depth, and workflow architecture.
They are separate products developed independently, and there are no upgrade or crossgrade paths between the two product lines.

FAQ
What is GeoSlide?
GeoSlide is a physically modeled slide whistle powered by SWAM technology from Audio Modeling, running inside GeoShred Studio. It delivers fully continuous pitch with swoops, glides, and wobbles played as finger motion, breath-driven dynamics, pressure-responsive expression, and 20 factory presets across GeoShred's performance surface.
Do I need GeoShred Studio to use GeoSlide?
Yes. GeoSlide runs inside GeoShred Studio, and a GeoShred Studio license is included with your purchase for customers who do not already own one. If you already own GeoShred Studio, you can use your existing license to run GeoSlide.
What's the difference between GeoSWAM and Naada instruments?
GeoShred offers two families of physically modeled instruments: GeoSWAM and Naada. While both deliver deeply expressive performance through GeoShred's touch surface and MPE support, they come from different modeling technologies and are designed with different musical goals in mind.
GeoSWAM instruments are developed in collaboration with Audio Modeling and are closely related to their acclaimed SWAM instruments. These models focus primarily on Western orchestral and acoustic instruments such as brass, woodwinds, and strings, and with GeoSWAM Collection IV extend to a set of world flutes. GeoSWAM instruments are designed for highly detailed expressive solo performance and operate as monophonic instruments, just like their real-world counterparts.
Naada instruments are developed by AccelMatrix and emphasize a broader palette of global instruments, including instruments such as Bansuri, Sitar, Veena, and many others alongside selected Western instruments. In contrast to GeoSWAM, Naada instruments are polyphonic, making them ideal for chords, layered textures, and rich ensemble-style performance.
In short:
GeoSWAM: monophonic, orchestral and world-flute focus, highly detailed solo performance
Naada: polyphonic, broader global instrument palette, ideal for chords and layered textures.
Both instrument families share the same expressive GeoShred performance environment, giving players an intuitive and powerful way to perform physically modeled instruments.
Do GeoSWAM and Naada instruments use the same parameters?
No. Because the two families use different modeling technologies, each instrument includes its own parameter set tailored to its physical model. These parameters control aspects of the instrument's behavior and performance response.
What controllers work with GeoSlide?
GeoSlide works with MPE controllers, wind and breath controllers, the free GeoShred Control iOS companion app, and standard MIDI keyboards when paired with a breath, expression, or foot controller.
Is GeoSlide monophonic?
Yes. Like all GeoSWAM instruments, GeoSlide is monophonic, mirroring the behavior of its acoustic counterpart. For polyphonic performance, GeoShred Studio offers the Naada instrument family, which supports chords, layered textures, and ensemble-style playing.
Can GeoSlide play in tune, or only slide?
Both. GeoShred's quantization modes set whether the surface snaps to notes or slides freely between them, and its pitch rounding keeps landings in tune, so GeoSlide can play melodies and still swoop between them.
