Studio Trumpet (Bb, muted)

The Bb trumpet, when played with a mute, produces an even mellower and softer sound compared to its C counterpart, making it perfect for lyrical solos and introspective passages. This virtual instrument brings the Bb trumpet’s unique muted timbres to your studio, delivering exceptional clarity and nuance in every note. Recorded in its purest form in the tight, controlled ambience of Vienna’s Silent Stage, this instrument embodies the art of musical understatement.

The Voice of Jazz

With its muted tones, the Bb trumpet is a favorite in jazz, where its lyrical and intimate sound enhances the genre’s emotive storytelling. Miles Davis famously used a muted trumpet in Bb to great effect. Beyond jazz, this instrument's adaptable nature also shines in orchestral and cinematic settings, where its thin, slightly 'nasal' tone blends beautifully with woodwind and string ensembles.

Muted Mastery

During the recording sessions for the muted Trumpet in Bb, trumpet player Alfred (Freddy) Staudigl, one of Vienna Symphonic Library’s longest-standing musicians, once again demonstrated his mastery. His skillfully crafted performances elevate the trumpet in Bb to an effective crossover instrument, as he expanded the classic European style with more intense vibrato and brasher tones, while sacrificing nothing in aesthetics.

Versatile and Expressive

A wide range of articulations like rips & falls, crisp staccatos, legatos, portamentos, and flutter tongueing showcases the instruments expressive versatility in glorious detail. Recording the samples relatively dry at the Silent Stage makes it possible to place them on your virtual stage and in the stereo field wherever you like, but also enables you to integrate the instrument with the Synchron Series by using the internal convolution reverb recreating Vienna’s own scoring stage, Vienna Synchron Stage.
