REmatrix + Factory IR Library

Multilayer Convolution Reverb

The next generation of convolution reverbs, made with music in mind. REmatrix combines up to five individual IRs that are mixed in parallel to create dense, complex and unique spaces. The reverb is then processed with an effects chain designed to add liveliness, create warmth, or even completely reshape the decay and create a reverb character that cannot be obtained with any other product.

"REmatrix is very cool! I love being able to mix and match the reverb types all in the same interface to get what I’m hearing in my head. Nice job!"
Andrew Scheps (U2, Adele, Justin Timberlake)

The next generation of convolution reverbs, made with music in mind

REmatrix allows you to combine up to five individual IRs to create dense, complex and unique spaces. The IRs can be edited individually and mixed in parallel to suit your taste. The reverb is then processed with an effects chain designed to add liveliness, create warmth, or even completely reshape the decay and create a reverb character that cannot be obtained with any other single tool.

REmatrix comes with the Factory library that provides you with over 300 unique IRs and 600 presets, out of the box. Additional REmatrix IR's can be loaded in or used with their own included REmatrix player.

Why REmatrix?

Impulse Response (IR) reverbs are great when you need to replicate a sampled space; however the typical IR offers only simplistic adjustments and does not allow more creative changes to the nature of the generated ambience. What if you need that greater level of control? What if you want to fundamentally change an underlying element originally captured inside the impulse response? REmatrix is the answer.

"REmatrix has added a whole new dimension to my mix process. With over 500 presets and the ability to mix 5 individual impulses, it is so much easier to fine tune the spaces i’m creating for all the different instruments in the mix. Will not have a mix without it!"
Butch Jones (Madonna, Talking Heads)

REmatrix features five convolvers working simultaneously and in parallel. You can build your own IR by summing five separate IRs, offering an all new level of customization inside the reverb. Each of the five IRs can be adjusted using multiple parameters while additional filters offer further tonal control. Furthermore, REmatrix has six Master Effects to refine the reverb's sound and fit the needs of your final mix.

REmatrix combines the best of convolution reverbs along with unprecedented levels of flexibility.

Whether you use the high quality Factory library, any of Overloud's REmatrix IR collections, or your own custom libraries, REmatrix lets you approach reverb with a brand new perspective and create both unique and unparalleled textures.

Overloud REmatrix - Multilayer Convolution Reverb

"I'm loving the REmatrix. The reverb sounds themselves are so strong, and the ability to blend different spaces is crazy. Adding to that, the effects section makes it perfect. Adding a bit of drive and then compressing the output and adding a little top end is so quick and allows immediate shaping in the mix. Great step forward here!"
David Kahne (Paul McCartney, Regina Spektor, The Strokes)

Unlimited Tonal Flavors

Overloud REmatrix - Multilayer Convolution Reverb

The fastest way to use REmatrix is to start with the provided presets and customize them by balancing the IRs to fit your needs through the five main faders. Creating presets with REmatrix is easy and offers you a new level of control. For example, start with one of the HALL IRs. Make it more interesting by adding a narrower ROOM IR to improve the stability of the mono aspect, then add a PLATE IR with a slightly wider stereo spread to add a pleasant and musically broad decay. By taking that same preset and adding an EARLY IR we can add greater realism and clarity. Finish off your sound by adding a SPECIAL IR to add a touch of three-dimensional character to the final reverb.

"REmatrix is one of the most addictive software I have ever owned! Can’t stop using it on every mix. Highly recommend it! I am sure you will truly enjoy it."
Rafa Sardina (Stevie Wonder, Elvis Costello, Lady Gaga)

Master Effects Section

Overloud REmatrix - Multilayer Convolution Reverb

Once the desired balance of IRs has been achieved you can inject additional life to the five mixed convolvers by using the modulation (MOD) control. Add more character through the DRIVE and compression (COMP) effects and replicate what happens during a mix session when the room mics get compressed.

The additional post-mix algorithmic reverb (REV), based on the acclaimed Overloud BREVERB 2 algorithms, is an indispensable tool to ensure the tails always remain natural and musical, even when using extreme settings. This reverb can be dialed in optionally to "glue" the IRs together, or to add a final sheen.

The DELAY, like the REV, is applied to the sum of the IRs. They're the ideal tools to create an abundance of space and greatly expand the tonal possibilities and usability of REmatrix. REmatrix puts no limits on your creativity, and it is so intuitive to use it actually reduces the learning curve to nearly zero.

Full Control over Each IR Property

Overloud REmatrix - Multilayer Convolution Reverb

Each one of the five IRs can be fully customized using the Extended Controls. There are two fully Parametric Equalizers, EQ1 and EQ2. Then there is the PAN control for stereo positioning and the STEREO control to adjust the overall width of the soundstage.

Next the LENGTH control adjusts the duration of the IR. (Note that the IRs of the REmatrix libraries can be either shortened or lengthened. This ability makes the use of REmatrix both very flexible and very fast). At the bottom of the panel is the DELAY control that can insert a delay before the initial processing of the IR. Using the delay you can adjust the response times of the loaded IRs and manipulate the combination of sounds that make up this new simulated environment.
